Giving back to the Toronto area community
Volunteers revitalize a downtown Toronto park
Landscape Ontario members take pride in giving back to their neighbours. In 2013, the volunteers who revitalized St. James Park after it was damaged by protestors, were awarded the inaugural Green for Life Community Award, created by the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association to recognize projects that benefit the public by creating green spaces within a community. Landscape professionals worked with community members for two days to aerate and amend compacted soil, and lay sod to restore healthy turfgrass on the three hectare site. Area residents were thrilled to once again enjoy their little green gem in the city.
