Giving back to the Waterloo area community

Greening schoolyards in Waterloo

Every year, Landscape Ontario members living and working in the tri-city area, renovate and redesign the outdoor playground of a local school.  Schools submit a written proposal to be considered for this honour, and in 2014, the recipient was Stanley Park Public School in Kitchener. The playground now includes shade trees and an outdoor classroom with armour stone seats.

Staff and students of Stanley Park will be responsible for the maintenance of their new green space, providing an opportunity for students to be active outdoors and learn about their natural environment.

Over the last nine years, volunteers have created Green For Life spaces at 11 area schools, and donated over $350,000 worth of landscaping back to the community in the form of materials and equipment.
