Students and apprentices enrolled in landscape and horticulture programs across Ontario can apply for financial support through a growing number of scholarships offered through the Ontario Horticultural Trades Foundation (Foundation), including the Cullen Family Scholarship Program and several of Landscape Ontario’s regional Chapters.
In 2025, the Foundation awarded over $69,000 in scholarships to over 40 future industry leaders.
Those selected to receive scholarships are also listed in the Foundation’s annual report (see page 27 for a full list of 2025 recipients) and recognized on stage at the annual Landscape Ontario Awards of Excellence ceremony in January. Recipients may also be featured in magazine articles, videos and on Landscape Ontario’s social media channel.
Full details on all available scholarships, including eligibility requirements, can be found online at OHTF.ca/scholarships.
Student applications
Once the online application opens in March, students can apply for a number of post-secondary, apprenticeship or memorial scholarships, ranging in value from $500 to $1,000. A $1,000 postgraduate and college and university scholarship is also available.
Landscape Ontario’s London, Upper Canada and Waterloo Chapters also offer scholarships of up to $2,000 for students within their geographic boundaries, or enrolled in a specific program or area of study.
The deadline for applications is June 30, 2026. Please note, some Chapter scholarships may have an earlier deadline.
Educator nominations
Horticulture educators can recognize outstanding students by nominating them for one of three special scholarships under the Foundation program at OHTF.ca/nom2026. Here you will also find the nomination form for the Cullen Family Scholarship Program that awards $2,000 to apprentices, $3,000 to students, plus a $5,000 need-based scholarship. In 2025, the program awarded $38,000 to students at various schools across the province.
The deadline for all nominations is June 30, 2026.
Eligibility and documentation
Before applying online, students should check the eligibility requirements and application criteria for each scholarship. Some will require a brief essay or written submission and all applications require documentation for proof of address, program enrollment or acceptance, as well as a copy of their transcript.
