Horticulture technician and landscape design students participated in a spring campus clean-up at London’s Fanshawe College. Over 90 students gathered 754 pounds of garbage during the April event.

The June issue of Horticulture Review announced that Landscape Ontario was now mortgage-free on the property in Milton purchased in 1995. To celebrate, board members and staff gathered for a photo outside the home office.

The LO Growers Group celebrated its 25th anniversary by staging an extra-special Research Auction with a pioneers’ reunion. The event was held at Timm Enterprises in Oakville. Among some of the industry pioneers attending were Howard Stensson, Burke McNeill, Monica van Maris and Horst Dickert.

HGTV featured the television show, The Decorating Challenge. Two gardens were designed by LO member Haig Sefarian and membership coordinator Denis Flanagan. The Landscape Contractor Commodity Group and Toronto Chapter combined forces to stage a meeting in February that featured a group of industry pros discussing approachs to acquiring new clients and building customer relations. Speakers included Jay Jackson, Baldo Gucciardi, Koos Torenvliet, Phil Charal and Bob Wilton.
