COVID-19 workplace health and safety december 2021

As COVID-19 case numbers increase across Ontario, we must all do our part to stay safe by following public health and safety regulations. Here is some key information for landscape horticulture professionals and business owners.

Know your responsibilities as an employer

Under Ontario’s labour laws, employers must take every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of workers. This includes protecting workers from hazards posed by infectious diseases. Learn more.

Create a workplace safety plan for your business

A workplace safety plan is a document that lays out the actions your business is taking to keep workers and customers safe. This tool will help you use current public health and workplace health and safety information to develop your COVID-19 safety plan. As an employer it is also your responsibility under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances to protect a worker. Engage your workers in developing and updating your plan, including your joint health and safety committee or health and safety representative.

Utilize a health screening questionnaire

Landscape Ontario has created a template Google Form members can use for contract tracing and health screening.

Procure PPE and sanitization supplies

If you need personal protective equipment (PPE) and other supplies to keep your employees and customers safe, you can access the Workplace PPE Supplier Directory. You can also access the Ontario Government's guide to using masks in the workplace to help ensure you select the right type of masks for your employees.

Get vaccinated against COVID-19

Learn when and where you can book an appointment for a COVID-19 on the Ontario Government's vaccination website.
