Halton residents can access funding for rainwater conservation
Conservation Halton currently offers two grant programs that Halton watershed residents and businesses, can benefit from:

Water Quality and Habitat Improvement Program:

  • This funding program supports landowners interested in projects that improve water quality and habitat through enhanced land management practices. Eligible project categories include pollinator patches, invasive species management, and more.
  • All residents within the watershed can apply, with applications due by Thanksgiving Monday for projects to be implemented the following year.
  • Funding is allocated based on ecological merit, as decided by an external project technical advisory committee.
  • On average, we receive five applications annually from Burlington residents.

Hamilton Harbour Rainwater Conservation Fund:

  • This funding program assists landowners within the Hamilton Harbour watershed with projects that divert and infiltrate rainwater on their property. Both residents and businesses are eligible.
  • Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis and supports stormwater management projects such as rain gardens, bioswales, and permeable pavement.
  • For farmers, nurseries, and greenhouses, there is additional flexibility for projects that reduce runoff or improve runoff water quality, including cover crops, grassed waterways, clean water diversion systems, water capture and storage, and nutrient management systems.

*All grant programs begin with a free site visit from our restoration staff, who provide recommendations tailored to your property. For more detailed information, please visit our website: Conservation Halton Financial Assistance Programs.
