More great reasons to attend GreenTrade Expo
The 21st edition of GreenTrade Expo is taking place on Feb. 12, at the Ernst and Young Centre, 4899 Uplands Drive in Ottawa.
This is Ottawa’s own mini-version of Landscape Ontario Congress. Last year the trade show floor of 40,000 sq. ft., with over 100 landscape industry exhibitors, was sold out early.
The day starts off with a pre-show ticketed event, the MTO Contractors’ Breakfast, which includes all the latest updates for landscapers from Marc Stang, MTO transportation officer, Road Safety Enforcement Division. This ticketed event has been sold out for two years in a row.
Admittance to GreenTrade Expo continues to be free to all horticultural and landscape trades professionals, and also includes free business education seminars.
Back by popular demand is Paul Zammit, director of Horticulture at Toronto Botanical Garden. He will present Choice Annual and Perennial Favourites, including tips on care and culture. His seminar will include taking your designs up a notch using the right annuals or perennials. Zammit will also demonstrate how to keep maintenance costs down by using the right plant for the right location and how to care and culture plant material.
New this year to GreenTrade Expo is Mark Burleton, the Manager of Grounds and Greenhouses with the National Capital Commission in Ottawa, where he manages the Official Residences Division’s horticulture and landscape portfolio for the six official residences. Burleton will walk attendees through the pruning techniques that ensure optimal plant growth and decrease maintenance costs. Knowing how to prune and when, will save time and money, as well as ensuring the proper growth pattern of plants in your care.
GreenTrade Expo 2014, with free trade show attendance and free business education seminars, will open at 9 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. For more information, visit www.greentrade.ca or contact marthawalsh@greentrade.ca.
