New Woody Plants introduced for 2009

Spring Flurry® serviceberry
Amelanchier laevis ‘JFS-Arb’
A dominant central leader supports strongly upward-oriented scaffold branches. Pure white blooms smother a delicate latticework of twigs early in spring before the leaves unfurl. Green foliage turns orange in the fall. Hardy to zone 5.
Lo & Behold™ Blue Chip
Buddleia x ‘Blue Chip’
The first true miniature Buddleia. At just 60-75 cm (24-30 in.) by 75 cm (30 in.), Blue Chip stays neat and compact without pruning. It produces copious, fragrant blue flowers from mid summer to frost without any deadheading. It’s great for mass plantings, perennial gardens, and container designs. Deer resistant, drought tolerant Blue Chip thrives in full sun to Zone 5.
Endless Summer® Twist-n-Shout™
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘PIIHM-I’
Like all plants in the Endless Summer® Collection, Twist-n-Shout™ produces abundant blooms on both old and new wood all summer long. Lacy deep-pink centres are surrounded by gorgeous blossoms of pink or periwinkle blue, depending on soil type. Twist-n-Shout is an elegant stand-alone specimen, dramatic in combination with other plants, and compact enough for containers. Developed by Dr. Michael Dirr.
Forever & Ever® White Out
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘White Out’
A gorgeous full-bodied plant with large, 20 cm (8-in.) white mophead blooms comprised of individual flowers, atop deep green leaves. ‘White Out’ flowers from early to mid-summer until frost and is hardy in Zones 5 through 9. Its compact, rounded habit will grow to 70 cm (28 in.) tall and 64 cm (25 in.) wide. While most hydrangeas set buds in the fall, leaving them susceptible to winter damage, Forever & Ever hydrangeas produce flower buds on the new growth in spring, ensuring blooms every year even in our northern climate.
Quick Fire™ hydrangea
Hydrangea paniculata ‘Bulk’
Quick FireTM is quick to bloom in the garden. It flowers in late May or early June depending on location. The flowers begin to turn deep pink before Pink Diamond hydrangea even begins to show flowers.
