Apply now for 2025 Unilock scholarships
The demand for skilled professionals in landscape architecture and construction continues to rise. From building parks, plazas, and streetscapes to creating custom patios, driveways, and outdoor kitchens, today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders in shaping the built environment.

To support this future, Unilock launched the Paving the Future Scholarship, an initiative that invests in the next generation of landscape architects, construction professionals, and designers. Now in its fourth year, the scholarship continues to expand its reach and impact by providing awards in the amount of $5,000 to selected students to help pay for their education expenses including tuition fees, books, housing and transportation costs.

Established in 2022 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Unilock — the first company to manufacture paving stones in North America —the Paving the Future Scholarship reflects the company’s deep-rooted commitment to advancing the hardscape industry. Since its inception, the scholarship has awarded $225,000 to students studying landscape architecture, landscape construction, and related fields across the U.S. and Ontario, Canada.

“The Unilock Paving the Future Scholarship commemorates my father [Ed Bryant]’s legacy by investing in a new generation of landscape design, architecture and construction leaders,” said Andrew Bryant, President and CEO, Unilock. “We’re proud to offer this scholarship for another year.”

Applicants are selected based on academic achievement, leadership potential, and a short essay describing their passion for the industry and long-term career goals. Beyond financial support, the scholarship also connects recipients with valuable educational resources offered by Unilock.

“I was a recipient for the Unilock Paving the Future Scholarship when I was a senior at University of Massachusetts Amherst,” said Luviana McLean, 2023 recipient, “That [scholarship] is what allowed me to cover my moving costs when I accepted a full-time position at Stantec, a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture and environmental consulting, where I now work as a landscape designer.”
