Each year before the November 11 Remembrance Day ceremonies in Ottawa, the Ottawa Chapter Day of Tribute event takes place to honour and remember Canada’s veterans. Created in 2005 by Sharon Rouette-Urquhart of Green Unlimited, the annual event provides a way for professionals in the the landscape and horticulture community to use their expertise to beautify and maintain the grounds of Canada’s National Military Cemetery as a way to give back to those individuals, their families and loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
The event has seen great participation from many sector group members in Ottawa, including grounds maintenance, lawn care, designers, garden centres, irrigation, landscape contractors, arborists, horticulturalists, and students.

Event Information
- Looking for 20-30 volunteers.
- If you are able to bring with you any of the following, it would be greatly appreciated.
- Aerator(s), rake(s), leaf blower(s), seed spreader, grass seed, fertilizer.
Timeline
- Event Date: October 23, 2026
- 7:30 AM – Registration, donuts and muffins, coffee and tea.
- 8:00 AM – Opening Remarks by Peter Campbell
- 11:00 AM – Lunch and departure
- Rain Date: October 30, 2026
Volunteers, please ensure you wear appropriate clothing, steel-toed shoes, gloves, and personal protective equipment for outdoor weather conditions and operating equipment.
