Landscape Ontario held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the association’s home office in Milton, Ont., on Jan. 29, 2026. The energy both in the room and online was a powerful reminder
of why this community is the heartbeat of the landscape horticulture industry.
Reflecting on the past year, it is staggering to see what we’ve accomplished together. From advocacy, education and events all designed to elevate the standards of our craft, the hard work of LO members has truly moved the needle for the trade in Ontario.
The AGM recognizes those individuals who served on the Board the previous year, and introduces our new Board of Directors and Executive Committee. These dedicated professionals bring
a wealth of experience and a shared passion for the future of landscaping and horticulture.
A major highlight of the meeting was hearing from incoming president Lindsey Ross who outlined his vision for his two year term. Ross’s message was clear: we are building on a solid foundation while leaning into innovation and community.
We are all incredibly excited to see Ross put his unique signature on Landscape Ontario. His leadership style and forward-thinking approach are exactly what we need as we navigate the
opportunities ahead.
To everyone who tuned in or joined us in person, thank you. Your voice is what keeps this organization rooted and growing.
Meet LO president Lindsey Ross
Lindsey Ross became president of Landscape Ontario in January 2026 with a clear vision: modernize the association for its next chapter. His presidential theme “LO 2.0: Our Time to Upgrade” positions advocacy as the organization’s primary differentiator, elevating the profession’s voice in policy and public dialogue while evolving governance structures that have largely remained unchanged since the association’s founding in 1973.
Ross brings a practitioner’s perspective to leadership. After graduating from Fleming College in 2003, he worked in landscape maintenance over the next 10 years — progressing from crew member to supervisor, assistant manager, then general manager.
In 2007, inspired by the Hornblower novels his grandfather gave him as a boy, he took a detour to serve as a watch officer aboard a tall ship. The experience reinforced lessons in collaborative leadership and adaptive decision-making that would shape his approach to both business and industry service: nothing happens without teamwork, and the willingness to change course based on new information is often what keeps you moving forward.
When his employer announced he was shutting down operations in May 2017, Ross and two apprenticeship colleagues launched Living Green Landscaping the following month – taking over the maintenance client roster and building from there. Today, the Ottawa-based design/build/maintenance company specializes in gardens and custom planters, with projects ranging from aging-in-place accessibility solutions to award-winning installations. Living Green has earned two Landscape Ontario Awards of Excellence and two Ottawa Chapter Awards of Distinction.
Ross has served Landscape Ontario for 11 years, including three years on the Ottawa Chapter Board and eight years at the Provincial board level as Chapter representative, treasurer, second vice president and first vice president. Ross is a two-time recipient of the Prosperity Partners Leadership Award (2019 and 2020) and chairs school councils for both his children’s elementary and high schools, balancing business ownership, association leadership and community service.
Ross’s two-year term as president will focus on strengthening Landscape Ontario’s advocacy capacity, modernizing governance and positioning the profession as essential public health infrastructure – building as association ready for the industry’s future.
